Research

In order to track participation, examine shifts in civic participation and attitudes towards government, and conduct an ongoing evaluation of the PB process in New York City, a PBNYC Research Board of scholars, professional researchers and graduate students was formed. The Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center chairs the Board.

During the 2011-2012 inaugural cycle of PBNYC, researchers collected over 5,000 surveys, 35 in-depth interviews, and 91 observations at key points during the PB process. With this data, the Community Development Project at the Urban Justice Center and the Research Board produced a comprehensive evaluation report that can be viewed here.

The Research Board will produce an evaluation report at the end of each PB cycle. Please direct any research-related inquiries to pbnyc [dot] research [at] gmail [dot] com.
